Located on a rock spire in Champagne, Langres is a very old city. The first settlements in the area date back from the celtic times, during which the city was named Lingones. It was later occupied by the Romans who started to fortified it. During the 15th century, the upper part of the city was further fortified. It still has impressive walls and remparts stretching on 3km and has numerous historical buildings to visit.
