Oussines pond, the source of the VŽzre
Caption
This large pond is located on the plateau de Millevaches and is the source of the Vézère river. We walked along it several times going through thick woods where crumbling stonewalls indicate the presence of former villages and finally reaching a peat bog way behind the pond. Otters are said to dwell in the small rivers of the area, but we never saw any, nor did we see tracks on the banks of the Vézère.
