Napoleon's army generals
Caption
The Arc de Triomphe de l'Etoile was first intended as a war memorial for Napoleon. This is reflected by the writings one can see on its walls. On the outside, the writings depict military victories of Napoleon (yes, French Military victories). On the inside of the Arch are more than 500 names of officers of the first Empire, some of them underlined to show that they died during combat.
