The Archives Nationales
Caption
This view shows the cour d'honneur of the Archives Nationales. The venerable building is also known under its original name: Hotel de Soubise. Built in 1705, it was at first a palace, commissioned by Franois de Rohan, prince de Soubise. Since 1808 and a decree of Napoleon, it is no longer private and contains the French national archives from the first merovingian kings to 1958.
