One of the two Paris Opera houses, this one was designed by architect Charles Garnier and completed in 1875. All the area around it had to be modified in order to accomodate it: whole building blocks were destroyed to make the Opera avenue, for instance. The palais Garnier is an opulent building that incorporates artwork by all the main artisans of the era. We could have a private visit of the Opera, including the stage and backstage areas, the machinery under the stage and had a glimpse on the reservoir underneath it.
