"The Royaumont Abbey was founded in the 13th century (1228) by the king Saint Louis who stayed there at numerous occasions. From then to the French revolution, it has had periods of great prosperity, with up to 120 monks living it there, but also periods where its cistercian community was reduced to a mere 10 people.
