Gun battery command post
Caption
This is the command post for the batteries of Longues. It is located right above a cliff and offers a fine view from Arromanches to the East to Omaha beach to the West. The battery had four 150mm guns with a range of about 20km. It was heavily bombed on D Day, but only some of the blockhaus were damaged and the guns were still able to fire. They indeed exchanged fire with cruisers on D-Day, wich may explain all the impacts on the blockhaus, especially the front part of the command post.
