1rst Infantry Division Monument
Caption
"Bloody Omaha" was taken with heavy casualties on the 6th of June 1944 as it was defended by more troops than expected by the allies. This memorial stands for the 1rst infantry division that accounted for many of the 3800 men lost on that beach. This spire is covered with names of fallen soldiers.
